Hey Rocky! May I have a word with you?

I'm sure I've mentioned that I don't get out much, and most of you know I'm not a fan of us humans. I currently, (Disclaimer: This is subject to change without fair warning or notice upon the next moon phase or mood swing.) have 2.75 friends with whom I engage regular phone conversations at great or as Favorite Guy would say, "Freako" lengths. All this will come around to a point, bear with me. I read a lot of books and blogs. I've even devised a little system of blog links lurking, it is how I keep my blog list long and fresh. I read my regulars' blogs daily and at least one new one from their lists. Smart, right?! I'm a bright bulb, really. So, back to the point of all of this. Amidst all of this new found socialization I am running out of words! Huh? Yes. And, it pains me deeply.

I find myself using the same words so often that when I pull one out of the dusty grey crates (Does anyone remember the TV series Herman's Head?) I have to relearn it, kinda. Like, I have to make certain that I'm not pulling an Oswald Bates; Damon Wayan's genius master of malapropisms on the now defunct In Living Color comedy series. The horror! But fear not, I have pulled out the big guns, that's thespian for thesaurus, and I'm getting back in the game. Have an interesting, exciting word you'd like to share? Post it here.

Interesting! I too have been using the same words frequently. Letting pictures do the talking now since writing/talking isn't my strong point lol. Thanks for paying a visit to my blog too =)

Oh you know me...I'm big on captions and photos. Not much of a writer. But words are fun, aren't they? I read a word I've never seen/heard before, look it up in my trusty dictionary, absorb the meaning and then see the word repeatedly in upcoming months. Weird.

Atavistic

That's a good one...

One of my favorite words is serendipitous. It just flows nicely. Lots of occasions to use it too, once you decide you like it. I also like the word indubitably. It just sounds funny.

lo·qua·cious
Favorite Guy would say that your 2.75 friends and you are rather loquacious during your freakishly long phone convos.

I love words. I have an ever-growing list of favorite words in my (hopefully) ever-growing mind. Hope you get lots of goodies to add to your repertoire (another good one). :>

i don't like using the same words repeatedly myself. even if it's just a basic, everyday word and i notice it's there 3 or more times in anything i've written, i go back and replace it or reword what i was saying so as to avoid being redundant. i'm forever looking in a thesaurus and have been saying that i'm gonna get back into the habit of learning 5-10 new words per day. i'm a bit rusty.

you've got me beat. my regular talking on the phone folks equals 2 at the moment. it's cool, though.

off the top of my head the word 'obsequious' comes to mind.

*off to look up 'atavistic'*

The thesaurus I know I need one. I am kind of lazy about it but I may have to take a page out of your book and start using one.

No words off the top of my head, but I'll get back to you if I think of any! I also am not a big fan of people, I much prefer my books, music, beads and computer :)

Lol, gotta love In Living Color... I miss that show =(.

That so funny that I read this because my professor, yes the one behind the thesis, gave us the "if you use the same word 30 times in a paragraph I will kill you all" speech last week, lol.
