High souls are never low...

Birth decrees to all men who live a common circumstance.
Diverse actions define their unique specialness.

Lowly men are never high, even when elevated.
High souls are never low, even when downtrodden.

...at least not for too long. Please excuse the photo quality, as I am truly pleased with how this collage came out. I've combined magazine clippings from my collection with decorative paper scraps from previous projects. They've been decoupaged, burned, distressed and sealed in a combination of metallic gold acrylic and a matte sealant; I wanted some shimmer without taking away from the wear worn aesthetic of the piece. It has been aptly titled, Soul on Earth. I'm back... I guess. You all know how it goes... and comes and goes and comes back again.

In other exciting creative news, Charmaine has alerted me to the wonders of Haiku Kung Fu hosted by the lovely and talented Chelsea of 88Words. She can be found here and here. I've spent the last hour- yes, sixty (60) minutes, with my haiku written, debating, "Do I punctuate or not"? (Do you?!) I ultimately went with punctuation, and later felt like that person: the one who uses his chopsticks to cut sushi or worse, rubs the chopsticks together! Ewww! Either way, I have written and entered my very own (punctuated) haiku to Chelsea's awesome contest. Wish me luck and/or join the showdown here.

Peace

oh wow. the collage is very attractive. i like your use of space , color, and dimensionality. (that's all paper???)

i've decided to join in on this haiku writing contest as well seeing as how lately i've already been writing them in my day to day doodling on whatever paper/book/bill i find near me. i don't punctuate mine, but i'm also known to spend a significant amount of time debating over matters such as that.

welcome back! yeah..i do know what you mean. i'm constantly waxing and waning when it comes to the creativity/will to create factor.

BEAUTIFUL collage, my love. Of all the art disciplines, I think, perhaps this one is my favorite. If I were to hit the lottery tomorrow, the first thing I'd buy is a Romare Bearden; I have a friend who owns a lithograph, and he's actually considered knocking me out with some spray when I visit so that I can't make it back to drool all over it. I tried to collage once, mind you. Didn't turn out well. Much harder than it looks, for sure.

I love to see you create--keep up the beautiful work!

Great quote! I don't think you have to punctuate a haiku. And I am not ashamed to say that I rub my chopsticks together (sorry, I can't deal w/ wood shavings in my mouth). Thanks for the heads up on the contest. Also, thanks for stopping by my blog and giving me a fist bump.
