Blog Love and Thanks!

A bell is no bell 'til you ring it,

A song is no song 'til you sing it,

And love in your heart

Wasn’t put there to stay

Love isn’t love

Til you give it away.

It's give-away (read: give love and thanks) time!

Oh, blog/blogging/bloggers, how I love thee. I recently remarked how, none of my blog friends and followers are family or real life friends. Later, I thought, "But, they kinda are". While we have never met in person, this is pretty much as real life as it gets.

Tea and Honey Bread is a vital part of my daily allowance of "sweet morsels for the mind, body and spirit". When I started this blogging journey (for a whole year, I might add) I went at it like I do with everything; a ridiculous amount of planning, just as much thought and in complete solitude. I don't think even the Favorite Guy knew what was going on in here. Points to head. Now, we're like a big old family, with children and nieces and nephews and pets, love and, loss and it's growing everyday. And, I've grown and am growing everyday that I'm a part of it. Thank you.

To show my appreciation for all of you who stop in- even when I'm sparkle-free and there's nothing to see, I'm gifting away the necklace shown above. The rules are simple: leave a comment telling me (us) how long ago and, why you became a blogger. A random winner will be chosen from my heart-shaped candy dish on Sunday at 12:00 EST and announced on Monday!

Peace

Just beautiful T. -- the words and the pendant. Obviously, I need to go check out your shop.....

that quote is so true.

strangest thing...i didn't see your commentary until i came to leave a comment and just happened to hit "show original post." from the pain page i just see the quote and pendant. (i thought it was a bit odd)

well, anyway, since i've now read the 3 paragraphs....

i hear you! i feel the same way about the relationships i've formed online via blogging and various message boards, and i'd like to say thank *you* for having this blog and providing so much for *my* mind and spirit. oh...and body, too! *eyeballs my 2 lovely rings*

with that said, on to that necklace!

i created my blog in summer 2007 strictly as a means to show my sewing processes (for those interested in the craft) as well as to promote my work. well, these days i don't do that much of either. within the last 8 months or so it's become a place to share expression, in whatever form it takes.

My original comment was going to be something along the lines of...ohhhh who gets this one? Love the customized hang tag. Then I read Fly Tie's comment and clicked the show original post tab....

So now, I'm going to copy all but
the last paragraph of Fly Tie's comment....

and add this:

I started blogging in Nov. of '07 as a way to market my Etsy shop. But I rarely do that anymore. Blogging has become a daily joy; the meeting of kindred spirits, and the sharing of ideas.

Love it!

Oh, that's just lovely.

I started blogging at the end of September of 2008... because I love writing about being a black mom, and because I knew there is a hugely under-served audience for stories about raising/mothering/loving children of color. I do it because it makes me happy. I do it because I've made some wonderful blog friends who are smart and creative and funny and thoughtful--everything I require of my friends.

I do it for love.

The necklace is very pretty! What a generous giveaway. I love the quote.

I started blogging one year ago next month. I can't believe it's been that long.

I'd never read a blog until about a month before I started my own. I kind of started it to support my business. But really it just looked like fun!

Love the poem and love the necklace. I started blogging the end of October. I thought it was going to be a way to promote my etsy shop. I do promote occasionally, but the blog is so much more.

I have always loved to write and my blog has given me an outlet to do just that. I am having so much fun with it....but the other part of it is that I am a very, very quiet and private person in my real life....on my blog and feel so free to be the me that is usually hiding inside somewhere but rarely comes out in public!

I have met some pretty amazing people through my blog and they truly have become very special friends. I feel so fortunate.

What a beautiful piece.

I started blogging on November 5, 2008, I felt powerfully, the impact of the election of Barack Obama as 44th President of America. I also loved Maya Angelou's graceful enunciation that America had finally grown up. I love to write and now, I can attempt to discipline my writing.

In addition, I am thankful for the generosity of spirit I have encountered in the blogosphere, a dynamic meeting point of diverse minds and collective voices. A place where we find inspiration, we string together ideas and comments as we dedicate ourselves to a wholesome new way of tackling maisha [life].

Thanks for this giveaway. I'm feeling really lucky :-)!

Tameka, this was a beautiful post. I feel so much richer for having met all my wonderful Blogging Buddies. I hope I am blessed to meet you in real life some day. I think you'd be a ton of fun to hang with!

I started blogging way back in 2005 with no clue as to why I should. My hubbie told me to "get with the millenium already!" and got me started. I took it way to seriously, and therefore had several false starts.

This last year, I said "screw it" and started to only post when I felt like it, wrote about my own passions, and rediscovered my writing voice.

I love it.

It's I who Thank YOU. :-)

Yes, I am beginning to see just how powerful this whole blog thing really can be =). I am so glad that I decided to become a part of it all as well and extremely happy to be considered a part of your extended family.

This pendent is just a lovely as the one that you blessed your sister with!

I've been a part of the blogosphere since July 2008. I grew up with a pencil in my hand and a notebook/paper/tablet/diary on my lap. Writing is how I survived. Pouring my feelings into poetry and such. I started blogging because I wanted to rediscover that passion for writing. Now, 8 months later, I write to stay sane. I am a blogger because in some cases its better to express one's feelings through written word than... um... other ways, lol. Bottom line, I am now a firm believer than blogging is one of the best inventions ever!

I started Dec 2007. My blog had a different name and it was mostly informative about jewelry making techniques and business. In the summer of 2008, I decided to show my real personality through my blog, and that's really when the fun started.

Thanks for being a friend. Even though we've never heard each other or seen each other face to face, I consider you a friend.

Beautiful pendant, love the color. Your blog is always so thoughtful.
I began blogging in Jan. of last year to challenge myself to do a photo a day and promote myself a bit. It has turned out to be such a rewarding experience, I am inspired each day by things I learn and see on other blogs, great community!!

The necklace is lovely, as are your posts. I truly enjoy reading you and "meeting" you here in Blogland!
I started blogging in May of 2007 mainly to have a place to promote myself as I began a new business (Etsy came a little later for me.) I realized that bringing up any topic could start some conversation and I could also include some of my photos.
Thank you for sharing with us, especially this blog and your lovely work.
Peace, Judi

I found my way to your blog via a line of other wonderful blogs. I love the feel of your space here. It's very warm and welcoming!

I started blogging in October of 2007 as a way to promote my book www.myfeelgoodgirl.com but soon found it to be a a bit addictive. I love that I've made so many wonderful connections with other bloggers. There's nothing like discovery a wonderful new blog and gaining insight into someone else's thinking and way of life.

I started my own blog Oct 29 2008 so it's still pretty new. I started to promote my etsy shop for one thing--that was my excuse--I just wanted to join the fun!
Beautiful necklace--thanks for having the contest!

Hello. I came here via High Desert Diva. What a lovely blog you have here. This necklace is beautiful!

Since I've never been here before, you don't have to enter me in the contest, as it seems to be for friends who have known you! But if you do, I'll tell you that I became a blogger originally to just share my thoughts and photography with my family and friends. Then I opened it up to the public. And now it's 14 months later and I'm still enjoying it.

I'm like Country Girl above, and have no expectations as just in the past few days became acquainted with your blog...I love it, it is beautiful and I have taken several peeks at it over the past few days! Your jewelry is gorgeous...but your words and photography are truly inspiring.

I found you through High Desert Diva who I found through A Cuban in London.

I started blogging just a few months ago. I am fascinated by all of the creativity, intelligence and inspiration that I have found in this online world. My purpose with my blog, is for exploration and communication, creativity and self-reflection, and to find and share inspiration and experiences in the struggles and joys that we all go through in the human experience.
