Friends Forever

Cat Party-Mixed Media Collage T.Allen Mercado 11/08

“I love cats because I enjoy my home;
and little by little, they become its visible soul.”

I'm sure I've previously mentioned just how much I love to plan parties. Party planning is up there on my list of favorite things to do. So, a few weeks ago when I realized the anniversary of Anju and Biju's arrival was approaching, I started mentally mapping all the details of feline festivities. It wouldn't be long before I'd realize, logistically, this was a feat even I might not pull off. That is when the cat party contingency plan took effect.

Much like conventional party planning, there were mental lists, ideas jotted, scratched and jotted again. I conferred with the Favorite Guy, Yael-I even tried Jordan. He shrugged me off and instead inquired about his upcoming birthday plans. Even the guests of honor, Anju and Biju looked at me quizzically offering their ideas and suggestions only in exchange for treats. Even, their replies were hurried and laconic.

As the date neared dangerously close (as in the day of), I took the reigns. After grooming both my precious companions and adorning them in sparkly new collars, I called upon my creative muses; paper, glue sticks, stickers, scissors, Picnik and good old Pinot Grigio. I don't know about anyone else, but I had a blast!

Anju and Biju were rescued from the home of a pet hoarder last November 1st. Gunky eyed and undoubtedly too young to be separated from their mothers, they came to live with us in their new forever home, and so it goes.

-Peace

Oh dear...hadn't thought of a party for Cammie. We adopted her last Nov., too. She'll be ten in a couple months. So your cats are just beginning their journey, while we are near the end.

What a fun collage! And a fun celebration for your feline friends! We've never celebrated Jelly Bean's adoption day but we guesstimated her birthday and celebrate that with treats for everyone!

Oh thank the Heavens--now I have proof that I'm not the only pet lover on the planet who celebrates her animal friend's birthdays. My super cute, super compassionate, super sweet, super smart dog Teddy (did I mention he's super?!) gets a special meal on his b-day, and presents on all other holidays. That's my BOY. (I'll have to remember to bring our friend Pinot Grigio to all upcoming festivities). Tee hee!

I love that collage! And how wonderful to celebrate the adoption of your kitties!

I did birthday parties every year once my late Jerzy reached Sweet 16 (he almost made it to 19!), but I hadn't thought of adoption parties for the two cats we have now, Chibi and Ebi... great idea (^_^)

have you ever seen the cats on rathergood.com ? your college brought them to mind. they are not as celebratory as yours are, they are a little more edgy. and darn funny!

A little Pinot Grigio and some glitter glue make EVERY party more fun!

Hmmm...I think I'll throw a party "just because"... Any excuse for a glass of wine. :-)

Glad you had fun. Oh, and you are a good soul to rescue cats and dogs. How's the new pooch working out?

Hugs,

Kate
