Zine stuff...

I think-Rolls eyes precariously, I'm ready to begin formatting and editing. It just sort of feels right. I have a sense of which pieces of art I'll use and a general idea for a layout, so perhaps...just maybe, I'm in business- sort of.

This project is really about forging a more amicable existence between my creative and intellectual self. The two don't always coincide. Much to my dismay the relationship is oft-times cannibalistic. Does anyone else experience this? It's as if the right balance is unattainable or arduously so, and usually at the expense of an important piece of the whole. Damned be the crazy complexities inside my head! Laughs.

I've been quite a zine fiend over the past few months, getting a feel for not so much what zines are about but, moreover who zinesters are. Just who are these underground writers? It has been quite an interesting mix. Some have been eerily familiar, like having a conversation with myself. The readings have sparked feelings of comforting warmth, wide-eyed stares and throbbing pangs from a brain teeming with, "now why didn't I think of that firsts". I think I'm hooked.

So um yeah, that's where I am. Unless I flop back into brooding thinker mode, I'll be working on zine construction over the next couple of weeks, months or so. And you? Anything new and exciting on the horizon?
Peace
(Raises fist. Grr Blogger-for those of you who were here in the early hours, you know what I mean...)

I'm still trying to wrap my brain around the idea of one half cannibalizing the other! Eww.

I'm interested to see what happens with your zine - I'm not familiar with the genre, so curiosity abounds.

I've been dabbling with salt dough sculpture as an inexpensive means to produce Christmas gifts, as well as a way to feed my soul. Come on over for some pix if you are interested,

Kate

Cool. I still haven't really read any zines, but we did talk a bit about the Trek zines in one of my classes this semester. The world of zine writing is definitely one all its own and I think that you are going to have a world of fun with it.

Not much new here, just having a current affair with my yarn. I have discovered that I am quite fast. If I had a day and a comfortable seat, I could easily make someone baby warm by nightfall, lol. I will probably have my little blanket completed today and ready for show tomorrow so stay posted.

i am in a desert right now....devoid of creativity. however, I am devouring literature so maybe something will burble up soon. i hope so...i'm somewhat adrift without purpose.

My best friend published her own zine for a few years, until she decided to go back to college for another degree. I've been involved in the editing of several fanzines. They're fun!

Zines?

Today is the first day I've ever heard of such a thing.

can't wait to see your zine...that'll be awesomeness!

as for me, i'm thinking about videoblogging/podcasting...its just wondering if anyone wants to hear and see me say what's on my mind....which leads to another dilemma...there is always so much on my mind...how will i reign it all in?

oh and i'm currently obsessed with tribal (african) adornments...scars, jewelry..face paint...the whole she-bang..

btw, sign me up as one of your first zine readers...

actually, i find that my creative and intellectual selves mesh quite well. i think that's why my writing for school is appreciated by the professors. i tend to have a creative/unique way of approaching literature and subjects. usually what's obvious to others isn't obvious to me--at least not right away. and when it becomes obvious, i'm like, "so?" ha ha!--and because of this i'm prone to come up with my own way of viewing and relating to a topic.

looking forward to the zine, cause of course i'm up for reading whatever you've got to say.

nothing much with me. just been chillin' out a bit (as is evidenced by the once again neglected blog). i have been sewing and will have some new dresses to show thursday.

I've been on a mini hiatus as far as crafting but I'm trying to take that focus and put it on me. Honestly, when I take care of body, mind and spirit, I'm such a cooler person. And trust, I'm a huge arse project
