Meh...

For the record, I agree Serena's behavior was inappropriate. However, when she is on the court, she is an athlete, not Emily Post. Shit happens. When men lose it-with seeming regularity, no one cries chivalry is dead, no one blames the possibility that they may have testiculitis, priapism or erectile dysfunction. It's just boys being boys, yes? So why all of the PMS references and extraneous hoopla?

Peace and a smidge of equal treatment, mmk?

? Not sure what all the hoopla is about when the youtube video doesn't really show much. She sounded surprised at the accusation though, and seemed to be gracious at the end of it all. Don't have time to look at everything said about the incident, but it appears to be much ado about nothing.

very bad call by the line judge, she was angry (ok, really angry, but understandably)... isn't john mc enroe famous for this same thing? and don't people kind of shake their heads and chuckle about it? go figure...

She had a bad day at the office. She apologised for it. End of the story.

I'm with you all the way. Murray loses it very often.

Greetings from London.

Honey, seriously! Apparently, boys will be boys, but women will be PMSing bitches if, God forbid, we forget to be June freakin' Cleaver in our day to day lives!

you know I'm with you. Her behavior was unsportswomanlike but that's about it. Anything else is just people trying to pull cards. I think some people hungrily wait for these types of moments so they can degrade people based on gender, location, etc...

It unfortunate but there is a double standard. Sad but true

It unfortunate but there is a double standard not only in sports. How many times has a woman spoke her mind and been branded a bitch or a victim of PMS. It say alot about how our society views behavior from men and women.

Yes, she went off, and paid for it. As she said she's looking forward, and thinking about getting better. I think that's enough. Men don't get into trouble for much involving getting angry in the name of the game.

I swear I wish every man on the planet could experience a period just once...maybe they would shut about it if they did. Of course most of them wouldn't survive it anyway! How many male athletes have behaved far, FAR worse and no one said much about it at all.
