Dancing!

Festivus 2007-Theme: World Peace & Music

These guys were a hit that night.

Dancing...more accurately kitchen dancing. A little history is in order here; one of my quirks is an inability to be positioned in the center of a room, any room. Since our living room is pretty open (3 points of entry) and sofa dancing isn't possible, for the past five years every party we've hosted has involved kitchen dancing, lots of kitchen dancing. I think it's pretty funny that no one ever questions it, they just join in. So, where is the craziest place you've gone dancing?

The craziest place that I have ever danced was in the middle of this parking lot at a rodeo...we were having way too much fun and the music was great, so we got out and started dancing!

I like the idea of kitchen dancing!

Sadly, I can't remember the last time I actually danced. Must remedy this....

I'm with Fly Tie - I break out into dancing whenever I hear music that makes my soul sing. So, just close your eyes and imagine... there are too many strange places for me to pick just one!

LOVE Los Amigos. They are fabulous.

car dancing... right up there with kitchen dancing... the best part is when you are dancing in your seat and some stranger is in the car next to you with a huge SMILE on their face!

What this entry calls to mind for me is all the many parties my family use to have when I was a teenager. My mother, now deceased, loved to cook. She only knew how to cook in super large amounts and she loved to feed any and everyone. Any day of the week, especially fridays, people might drop by. Sometimes just a few, other times a house full.

Like you and your friends, dancing was a must! My mom and my grandmother, also deceased, loved to dance. No special occasion was required, just a joining of people. My mom really enjoyed the oldies of the 60's with some Bobbie Blue Bland and some BB King mixed in.

Those were truly the days.

hmmmm . . . i've danced in the shower and once danced at strawberry fields in new york city's central park. just a few moments of quiet dancing (by myself no less)to pay homage to john lennon and the affect his music has had on my life. my hubbie stood by and looked uncomfortable. hee hee

I would like to say that I've danced on many a table in my day...but ah, no...that would not be me. I love to dance though. When I was a kid we had an amusement park right on the river in my little town. People came from all over by the bus load to enjoy the river and the rides. There was a huge concession stand along the water, and a marina and then there was a huge concrete dance floor with a juke box! It was outside, right in the middle of all the other action! Now that was an awesome place to dance!

I'm much too square to dance in crazy places (does dancing in the kitchen, with the dog count as crazy?)

But a couple of days ago I went to the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, as they were here in Houston for the weekend. They had a couple of pieces, especially the finale, that MADE you get up and move to the beat.

I took a lady to France for her birthday. We found a quant little restaurant in Paris. There was a lady in the restaurant singing (in French) while we eat our dinner. I pushed around some chairs and I danced with my (then) lady in front of everyone. We received a standing ovation. There was no dance floor in the restaurant, but there was one in my mind!
