Oh, Schmap!

Botanical Building: Balboa Park, San Diego California

As I sat lamenting the death of my external hard drive, approximately 4,000 photos and lots of music, the Universe was working on a consolation prize of sorts. Two of my photos on Flickr (one shown above) were short-listed for inclusion in the Phoenix and San Diego Schmap guides for late July.

So, what is Schmap ? (I was shamefully unawares.) From the website: "Schmap is a leading publisher of digital travel guides for 200 destinations throughout the United States, Europe, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. More than 90 million Schmap Guides have been downloaded since first release in March 2006: this phenomenally popular series can also be browsed online, with versions optimized for iPhone and Nokia users."

So, a little recognition and two photos with the potential for viewing by over 90 million people, kinda lessens the blow of the ones I've lost....kinda. Either way, I'm pretty excited for the opportunity and will be thinking of Schmap now when I take vacation pics, you just never know when they'll be looking for a photo.

Peace and pictures

Now that is a very cool turn of events. That place was so packed on the day that we decided to visit during our San Diego trip, that we had to save it for next time. I hear its a MUST place to see... we did old town San Diego instead, which was pretty awesome.

What a way to start the process of rebuilding!
